Youth Programs
Did you know that half of the YMCA’s members nationwide are under the age of 18? YMCA’s give youth a safe place to call their own, a chance to connect with adults who care about them and an opportunity to get involved in programs that help them grow.
A mainstay for young people at most YMCA’s are our Y youth sports programs. These programs are designed to help our kids get involved in positive activities and receive caring adult attention.
Popular Youth programs here at the Y are our indoor and outdoor soccer leagues, basketball, and T-ball leagues. Ages for these sports are 4-12. We emphasize fun, fitness, and fundamentals.
Other Youth Programs we offer are of course, child care, and Day Camps during the summer months.
We also offer a number of year round youth programs like our indoor gym area and aquatics programs designed for youth of any age. Our Aquatics programs are designed to teach our youth the basics of swimming and water safety. We offer a very fun and unique Kids Fitness program and we also have a number of different martial arts programs available. You will start out in our Lil Dragons program, and then as you learn, you will move up and have the chance to earn your white, yellow, and finally Black belt.
At the Y, we love our youth, that’s why we strive to build strong kids, strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Aquatic Programs
Did you know the YMCA has been teaching people to swim for more than a century? Over the years the Y has developed a number of aquatics programs that are great for children and adults alike.
In our youth aquatic programs, children begin to learn the basics of water safety and water fun. Our SKIPS swim classes are for youth 6 to 36 month of age. We offer fun and a unique way for parent and child to begin enjoying the water. Our PERS and advanced PERS swim classes are for youth between 3 and 5 years of age. These classes begin to teach you basic swim skills, water safety, stroke mechanics and endurance.
Our youth progressive swim classes are for ages 6-12 and are some the YMCA’s most widely offered programs nationwide. The Progressive swim classes continue to teach children proper swimming skills and the basics of water safety. With our youth aquatics programs, our goal is to help kids develop lifelong skills that help them stay healthy and safe around water for the rest of their lives.
The YMCA also has a number of programs for Adults of all ages. If you are into exercise, the Y offers classes like the:
If you are looking for a therapeutic class, we offer classes for arthritic exercise, or if you have never learned to swim as a child, we offer basic adult swim classes.
We even have classes that teach the basics of Scuba Diving and offer Red Cross Lifeguard Courses seasonally. (Courses begin mid to late January thru late spring)
If you looking to swim competitively, The AAY Swim Team is a YMCA and KY-USA year round competitive swim team. To learn more: www.aayswimming.org
