Child Care

The YMCA Child Care program is a year round state certified pre-school program that offers age specific (1-5) class curriculum. The YMCA Child Care is proud to include SWIM LESSONS by our certified lifeguards every Monday – Thursday as our schedule allows for children aged 3 and up who are completely potty trained. We also offer Kindermusik lessons with Melissa Brown’s local franchise Uptown Musik September-May.

We have a limited amount of space available so all registrants are charged for the entire week each Monday whether the child attends or not to hold their spot. Balances cannot be tolerated. We will allow for one week of vacation time per year (Jan-Dec).

To request a spot for our 4 STAR rated Child Care Program you will need to speak with someone in our Child Care Office. If we have an opening you will be able to register your child there as well. If we do not you may be added to our wait list.

If you are a state subsidy recipient, you must provide your contract prior to beginning care.

In addition to filling out the entire Child Care Program Packet, we will need a copy of your child’s immunization record which must include the Commonwealth of Kentucky Seal and expiration date.

We strive to provide a safe fun-filled, positive place for your child to come to each evening after school. Children will arrive to the YMCA on an Ashland Independent School bus. We will wait at the main YMCA entrance for the buses for your child’s safety. Each day your child will be provided with a healthy snack and drink as well as a chance to relax and watch some TV after a long day at school. On Mondays, homework help will come next. If your child does not have homework, reading a book will be encouraged. During this time there will be no TV or playing games so that the kids have a chance to concentrate and get some work out of the way. Throughout the year we will do some art projects and various other activities throughout the building. Otherwise, we will wrap up each evening with free play or group games. You will always find a sign on the After School Room door letting you know where we are at pickup time. Overall, we want to provide your child with a fun-filled, learning rich environment for them to grow and thrive.

Comfortable clothing and tennis shoes are preferred as we will be playing hard! The After School Program ends at 5:30PM. You will be charged $2 for each child for each minute you are late past 5:30PM. If you do not pick up your child by 6:30PM authorities will be contacted.
